Our Activities
The club to its credit has been carrying forward many permanent projects.
MATERNITY CAMP
BRINGING MATERNAL CARE TO EXPECTANT MOTHERS
One of the signature permanent projects of the our club is its MATERNITY CAMP conducted on the first Monday of every
month at Indian Heritage Centre , Kormangala, Bangalore.
The club conducted its 68th maternity camp on 5th July 2015. Through the camp, our club has been earnestly bringing
maternal care to the expectant mothers, from needy families, that other wise might be unreachable to them. On any
given camp day 25- 30 expecting mothers avail the benefits of the camp.
Pregnant women are screened by specialist doctors, data entered is recorded in a booklet given to each women, Fe, Ca
,multi vitamin tablets for the entire month and TETVAC injections are given to each of the women. Those who require
further investigations , blood tests, scanning are referred to diagnostic labs. The entire cost is borne by our
club. The expecting women are referred to the Referral hospital, J C Road for delivery. At the camp the expectant
mothers are sensitised about reproductive health, importance of pre and post natal care, family planning,
information about labour etc.Recently Pranayama and yoga sessions for the pregnant women for easy delivery were
started
The necessary expenses for each camp is around Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000. It is being met by voluntary contributions
and the donors are invited to the camp.
HEALTH CAMP IN SIDDAGANGA MUTT
The well know Siddaganga Mutt in Tumkur houses 10,000 students.
LCB BTM Nightingale is working towards bringing health care to all the students of Siddaganga Mutt. The club has
co-ordinated with technicians and doctors from Thathaghat , Panacea, Srinivasa health care and Lions West Eye
Hospital to conduct health camps every Saturday at Siddaganga mutt. Each Saturday students are screened in batches ,
medicines given and dental problems which can be treated on the spot dealt with. Children who need spectacles are
listed and spectacles are provided the next week. The club has been providing uniforms and toiletries to the
visually impaired children of the mutt at a cost of around Rs.1, 50,000 every year.
All this will cost the club around twenty lakh rupees.
CARDIAC CENTER.
Our club co-ordinated with Narayana Hrudayalaya and has set up a cardiac center in the Primary Health Center in
Marasur village in Anekal taluk. The facility was inaugurated on 23-2-2014. Patients are screened and ECG is done at
the Primary health center. This is relayed to Narayana Hrudayalaya via internet. At the hospital doctors monitor the
relayed ECGs 24/7. The ECG sent is immediately analysed and measures to be taken and medicines to be prescribed are
conveyed to the Primary health center. If hospitalization is required the patient is transferred to the hospital.
This facility has been a great boon for the people of surrounding villages as they can get primary investigation
done in the nearby health center and need to go to the hospital only if there is an emergency.
This Cardiac center has been established at a cost of Rs 75,000.
ADOPTION OF GOVERNMENT SCHOOL
Our club has adopted the Model Government School in Kormangala village and has provided the school with many
facilities like a fully equipped computer classroom, laboratory, library. We provide books, uniforms, shoes to the
school children every year and also pay the monthly salary to the computer teacher and watchman. During the summer
vacation we conduct spoken English classes, workshops in drama , dance, art etc.
All this has resulted in an increase in the strength of the school to 100 students. Expenditure towards the school
per year is Rs 2,50,000.
DIABETIC AND CARDIO CAMP
Our club has been working to provide basic health for the economically weaker sections of the society. We free
conduct diabetic and cardiac screening for the general public and provide free medicines on the third Saturday of
every month in the premises of the Model Govt School in Kormangala. This project cost us around Rs 1,80,000 per
year.
Apart from these projects our club conducts service activities to the physically challenged, elderly people,
visually impaired, conducts many blood donation camps, provide scholarships to deserving students every year. This
year we conducted a mega health camp to the FEMALE INMATES OF PRISON AT PARAPPANA AGRAHARA
SAVE OUR ENVIRONMENT
The Trust gives great importance to Conservation of Environment. It has taken up extensive tree plantation program
through its lions Club . The idea is to plant around 5000 trees , in phases, this lionistic year.
The first phase was carried out on 8-7-2015 in Kammanahalli , near Sarjapur.
Women empowerment projects
Tailoring classes started in Ambedkar bhavan in 2011.Our club co ordinated with the government and has facilitated the implementation of free tailoring classes to women from BPL families. 40 sewing machines worth 2 lakh each were put up and classes continue since then. Every year 300 women are trained in batches of three months each. They are taught tailoring, embroidery, crochet. Placement is also fecilitated.The trainees are given a stipend of Rs 1200 per month. The amount spent every year on this project is Rs 8,10,000 ( eight lakh ten thousand ) Beautician training course
Cardiac and Diabetes screening Camps
held at the Auto stand in Majestic City Railway station for the benefit of Auto drivers since 2017, on the fourth saturday of every month.Association of doctors and technicians from Srinivasa Health Care test Blood sugar levels and BP are and required medicines given. 494 benefited so far and Amount spent till date this year Rs One lakh thirty eight thousand five hundred and fifty.
